Getting a Seasonal Job

The best options for seasonal employment really depend on what season you would like to work. Whether you are looking for seasonal income to supplement your regular job, or you want to work only during certain times of the year when your schedule permits, there are a number of excellent opportunities for seasonal work. Automotive jobs, retail jobs and home improvement jobs are plentiful during various seasons.

During the Christmas and Hanukkah season, there are many opportunities for season retail employment. Department stores tend to hire extra help from November through January each year in response to increasing customer demand and longer hours during this heavy shopping season. During the summer months, there are many seasonal employment opportunities and tourist-oriented businesses in beach communities and other areas that are known to attract summer vacationers. During the winter months, ski resorts tend to add more staff members. Hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions frequently hire additional staff members during peak tourist seasons. During the school year, seasonal work may be available for substitute teachers in local school systems. This is an excellent opportunity for those who want to work part-time based on schedules that are consistent with those of their school-age children.
